Per recent claims from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the prison’s warden was “helping” the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” remain unclear, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” private meetings for Maxwell and her visitors.

These meetings allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and chance of unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was given specific instructions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to digitize and send to the original sender.

Additional Privileges Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was more content at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

In August, she was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most detainees are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

In the news release, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the chief executive to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that the official attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also posed three questions to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange her with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

In October, the nation's highest court declined to hear an appeal from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
