Approximately 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the area, generating powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Locals reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units activated to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations responded to 598 emergency reports across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

During the peak on Sunday, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk anticipated across multiple regions of both states.
Medical Alert
Public health experts alerted that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the area.
